So I happen to know that a fair few of my lovely friends around here, are in the final throes of various fests and writing endeavors.

With that in mind, I'm gonna hang around over on Mibbit and attempt to GSD for the next couple of hours. Anyone who wants to can feel more than free to come and join me! All fandoms welcome!

I am in the chatroom #gsd_chat so just chose a nick and come join in (I'm hoping to work in 30 min writing sprints, and 30 min chat).

omg so I NEVER do this, but have you ever just read a fic that literally left you speechless? like, you know its going to just stay with you for a long time?

This fic did that to me. I listened to the podfic at work earlier, and then went BACK to read it for myself, and it's just... It's gorgeous and heartbreaking and I almost put it down half way through because I couldn't figure out how it could possibly be OK, but then it was and it was perfect and so well done. Derek here was flawless, and so real and so broken and Stiles. OMG Stiles. For all that he was not the Stiles that I'm used to (for obvious reasons), I think it speaks so highly of the author that he still somehow felt IC all the same.

I could literally keep going on about this fic. It is THAT good (and gorgeous art too!)

Have another looong week of 10+ hour days again (since I don't celebrate Christmas I offered to work overtime so people who DO could take off, but it's still tough) this week. If I'm a bit MIA that's why. I didn't want anyone to think I'd disappeared again. ♥

*hugs* Hope everyone has a good week and gets the rest of their christmas preparations and shopping done.

Title: Well Tempered
Author: castmeaway
Pairings: Derek/Stiles
Rating: Pg-13
Word Count: 5.3k
Warnings: Grief/mourning.

Summary: His fingers start moving almost of their own accord, and it feels easier suddenly. His fingers feel less clumsy, and the music that flows forth isn’t quite so somber anymore. It’s not the happy airy sound he wants so desperately to give to Stiles, but this feels right in its own way. More him. More them.

Or, the fic where Derek used to play piano, and he does again. But only for Stiles.

Notes: This was story was written for popfly as a pinch hit for the tw_fallharvest exchange fest. Thank you so much to piscaria for the amazing beta (as always) and to fuzzytomato02 for the cheerleading.

just a drive by post to say sorry for the disappearing act. November is a notoriously bad month for me and this year was particularly tough. I just really needed to cut down on distractions for a bit while things were so crazy. It was also good to step away from fandom for a while, and while tough, I think it was ultimately a good experience.

I'm sorry if anyone was worried. that was not my intention.

Oh man. I've been kind of obsessed with this song today.

Thank you so much for the pumpkin cookie obliqueo

Took my "mom" (she's my mom's best friend and basically a mom to me as well) out todinner with with my real mom and sister for her birthday tonight.

It was a true blast. We went to a local restaurant that either grows all their own ingreeients or sources them locally, and chose to do the 7 course chef's tasting menu.

Omg. it was seriously one of the best meals of my life (although considering the cost, it should have been). each plate was small, but so complex and wonderful and truly delicious. There was something really special knowing that the menu was created just for us and that it wasn't an experience we, or anyone else, could ever duplicate.

(the wine pairings were amazing too, and have led to being more than a little tipsy).

It was so sweet because at the end the chef came out to our table to deliver the final course (a cheese course where he lit a cinnamon stick instead of a candle for the birthday girl) He was soooo adorable and so sweet and you could really tell that he loved what he does and that he was so flattered by all of our praise.

And now? I am going to take all of my clothes off and collapse into my bed with it's nice clean sheets and with no intentions of getting up any earlier than noon tomorrow.

♥ to all.

Can I just say.... I really hate all of you on my flist who are into Teen Wolf. Seriously. You've totally dragged me to the dark side. What?!

( although, mostly this is all your fault fuzzytomato02. you filthy enabler you.)

Have you ever read/listened to a book that you just can not decide if you really like it or you really hate it? It's the kind of thing that you know intellectually is well written, but the content is just...it's either really brave or really *bad*? And despite that you can't look away because it's sort of like watching a train wreck?

I've spent the morning listening to the audio book "The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart" and that's basically how I feel about it currently. It's kind of disgusting, but kind of funny and I don't know how it is that I can both despise the main characters, and also kind of like them at the same time. I will say, and following the above sentiment, the sex scene in it was one of the most visceral shudder inducing sex scenes I've ever experienced in my entire life. It was....I can't even describe it. It was *nasty* and funny and euphemistic as most sex in real live novels tends to be, but it was strangely erotic and period and...I just DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS BOOK.

This quote...I just... *getting odd looks from coworkers right now* I feel so judged.

“What is this fuck?” Martyn asked.
“What?” Hegel said.
“Who?” Manfried said.
“Fuck,” Martyn repeated, “fucking, fuck, fucker— the word you like so much, a slur?”
“Oh, the word fuck!” Manfried laughed. “Yeah, a slur, right enough. Village not too far from our birth-home’s called Fuckin.”
“Why did they name it after a slur?” Asked Martyn.
“Oft I have mused the same question,” said Hegel.
“You have?” Manfried grinned at his brother’s folly. “Hardly suprisin. Nah, Martyn, It’s like this. Fuckin’s a town filled with men what are assholes, but assholes so mecky it don’t serve to just call’em assholes or mecky assholes, or even Maryless mecky assholes, gotta get somethin stronger by a way of differentiatin, to say nuthin a brevity. Hence, we call someone so mecky they might’s well have been from Fuckin a fucker or a fuckwit, or anythin else related to the bein from Fuckin. Yeah?”
There was a long silence on the bench before Hegel cleared his throat. “Or the act of fornication. Bein a mecky deed, the term may be applied there as well.”

Title: Dead of Knight
Author: castmeaway
Artist: yuan_fen
Pairings: Arthur/Merlin
Rating: Nc-17
Word Count: 43k
Warnings: violence, blood/gore (consistent with a crime scene),[Minor character death (canonical)]Minor character death: Will, blood play.
Summary: Merlin Emrys, supernatural expert and consultant for the local police, knows that going to the opening night of a vampire bar isn't a good idea, not with anti-vampire sentiments running rampant. So when he draws the eye of the bar's charismatic owner, and the new Master of the City, Arthur Pendragon, he's not exactly pleased.

When a series of murders, seemingly the work of vampires, forces them to work together anyway, Merlin unwittingly finds himself falling in love. Suddenly, the lines between work and love are not as cut and dry as they seem.

Author's notes:
This story could not have come about without a few amazing people: Huge thanks goes to my cheerleader jelazakazone, who was so supportive and held my hand through this entire process. Thanks to piscaria, who very kindly offered her beta services and her time, and did a truly amazing job. This would not be near the quality it is without her eye for detail and immense knowledge of writing. And finally serious hugs to loaded_march who, aside from being a bit of a cheerleader as well, also got her hands on this at the very end, when I could no longer see straight for staring at it for so long. I am immensely grateful to all of you wonderful ladies, and it was a pleasure working with you.

(Also, serious praise and kudos to the_muppet for once again hosting this incredible fest)
